Jeibi At Lovecraft

Last night Jeibi Akyeampong presented his first ever live show at Lovecraft Bar in NYC! Just a guy with his guitar and laptop, Jeibi put out his works out there that Saturday for strangers, speculators and fans to see. Sharing pieces he's created years ago to works just added to his catalog, this upcoming artist curated a wonderful show!

 

Jeibi has a electric/soft rock sound with an alternative edge. He showed off guitar skills with melodic chords, at moments light and airy while other moments grand and bold. There were also awesome riffs and guitar solos. And that voice! Deep and full of bravado Jeibi's voice emits a beautiful serenading sound. Combine voice playing style and you get a listening experience full of enchantment. I recall many in a gaze as they watched him perform yesterday. His charming and witty persona also didn't hurt when it came to keeping the crowd wanting more. It was a great show full of fans, friends and family that let it be known Lovecraft was packed for Jeibi!

Each song was great and well performed. My personal favorite was "Tropical". It has a beachy/rock vibe that reminded me of Florida evenings. His playing was smooth and crisp. "Tropical" had folks swaying and rocking with the rhythm leading our bodies, which I loved most. Jeibi's favorite song was the last of his set, called "American New Year". His vocals on this song were the most powerful and passionate, affirming his love for this track and ending his set off strong. He sang and played bold chords with profoundness that led the audience to give a long lasting applause. All in all, the show was amazing and Jeibi owned the stage.

It was a delight to witness Jeibi's first live show. Lovecraft is an awesome venue: open walled bar upstairs with a spacious exposed brick wall downstairs and a stage where the music magic occurred. That downstairs  bar was filled with Jeibi supporters last night and I can only imagine similar evenings like this to come. Seeing the glow and relief on Jeibi's face as he finished was a moment along with the proud parent hugs and praises from the dozens of folks who came out for him.
